JON OLIVA To Produce BIRD OF PREY Debut

May 11, 2005

Jon Oliva, the mastermind behind SAVATAGE, DOCTOR BUTCHER, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and JON OLIVA'S PAIN will be handling all production duties for the forthcoming debut album from BIRD OF PREY.

BIRD OF PREY is led by vocalist Kyle Michaels. His impressive abilities have allowed him to collaborate with heavy hitters like Geezer Butler (BLACK SABBATH),Randy Piper (W.A.S.P., ANIMAL),Joey Vera (ANTHRAX, FATES WARNING) and many other respected names in the field. The band is rounded out by guitarist/songwriter/engineer Andrew Haller (who has worked with such artists as SANTANA, DON HENLEY, JENNIFER LOPEZ and SYSTEM OF A DOWN),bassist/songwriter Danny Weymouth and percussionist Gregg Potter; with a second lead guitarist to be named soon.

Self-described as "'70s heavy rock with 21st century metal tendencies", BIRD OF PREY's music will surely bridge generational and stylistic gaps with its strong melodic sensibilities, skillful arrangements, unique aura of mood and unforced sincerity; a masterful merger of classic and contemporary, providing a striking amount of freshness, and a healthy dose of familiarity.

The band is currently shopping to record labels with the enthusiastic support of Crash Music mainman Mark Nawara. Pre-production recording is underway, and will conclude sometime in July. Official recording sessions commence in September, at various Chicago-area studios, and will wrap in November. 2006 will see the release of the debut album, followed by worldwide touring.
